Insurance for Inspectors​

To be a licensed home inspector in Delaware, individuals must meet certain requirements for adequate insurance coverage. InterNACHI members are eligible for discounts and enhanced coverage. Visit nachi.org/insurance for information on how to sign up.

Inspector Continuing Education (online & free for members)

According to the State of Delaware, home inspector licensees shall complete 40 hours of approved CE by August 31 of each biennial renewal period. Licenses expire on August 31 of odd-numbered years (starting with 2015).

Radon Tester Certification in Delaware (online & free for members)

      
 
The Delaware Division of Public Health's Radon Program lists Certified Radon Testers on their website at http://www.dhss.delaware.gov/dhss/dph/hsp/hhinsideradon.html. To become certified, inspectors are required to have:

  • certification from a nationally-recognized organization;
  • a Delaware business license; and
  • completed the QA program. 
Become certified by taking InterNACHI's free, online "Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provide Course," which is NRPP- and AARST-approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. Real Estate Cards (free for members)

InterNACHI members can hand out these marketing cards to licensed real estate agents to help promote their businesses to licensed real estate agents.
 
When a real estate agent enters the InterNACHI member's ID number into the course system, the member is automatically notified by email.
 
 
 

Home Energy Inspector Certification (online & free for members)

 
 
Become a Certified Home Energy Inspector. The online training and certification is free for members. No infrared, no blower door, and no additional training needed. Visit nachi.org/home-energy-inspector 
 

Home Energy Score Assessor (online & free for members)

The Home Energy Score is similar to a vehicle's miles-per-gallon rating, and any qualified inspector in the U.S. can generate a Home Energy Score in less than an hour. 
 
The Home Energy Score provides:
  • a score on a scale of 1 to 10; 
  • facts about the home and its energy use; and 
  • recommendations generated by the U.S. Department of Energy to improve the score and energy efficiency. 
  To become a Home Energy Score Assessor, you must:
    1. be an InterNACHI-Certified Home Energy Inspector (online and free for members); 
    2. complete the 3D-house training (online and free for members);
    3. agree to participate in a Quality Assurance Plan with other local Home Energy Inspector (free for members); and
    4. email Michelle to participate in the program.
 
 

Wood-Destroying Organism Inspection (online and free for members)


 
The State of Delaware's Department of Agriculture does not currently regulate structural pest inspection. However, InterNACHI members can become certified by taking the Wood-Destroying Organism Inspection Course.
 

Roof Data Technician (free for members to participate in)

  
 
The Roof Data Technician Program, developed by InterNACHI and Owens Corning and Lowe's®, provides an additional revenue stream for InterNACHI members who are hired by Owens Corning as part of a roof warranty claim resolution process.
