To Become a Certified Home Inspector

To become an InterNACHI Certified Home Inspector and attain the Certified Professional Inspector CPI® designation, complete the home inspector certification requirements. The training, exam, and certification are all online and free for members. 
 
 
 


Home Inspector Continuing Education (online & free)

InterNACHI-Certified Home Inspectors are required to complete twenty-four (24) hours of Continuing Education every year to renew their certification.  All of InterNACHI's online education courses are free to members.

Insurance for Home Inspectors

Although Kansas doesn’t have requirements regarding insurance for home inspectors, many local real estate boards and home inspector business franchises require their affiliate members to meet certain coverage standards. Radon Tester Certification in Kansas (online & free)

      
InterNACHI's Radon Measurement Professional Initial Training Course  is NRPP/AARST-approved. It is online. It is free to all members. And, it is approved by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's Radon Program. 
 
To become a certified radon tester in Kansas, you must do several things, including: 
  • provide proof of completion of a radon measurement training course approved by NRPP and AARST (InterNACHI's course is NRPP/AARST-approved for both initial certification and CE. It is online and free to members);
  • submit a QA plan (InterNACHI's QA Plan template is NRPP/AARST-approved, available from within the online course, and free for InterNACHI members);
  • pay a non-refundable $100-$250 fee to Kansas with your QA plan and certification application;
  • pass a NRPP's certification exam approved by Kansas;
  • pay a $110 fee for taking the Kansas-approved exam; and
  • submit to Kansas a radon certification application.

NRPP:
InterNACHI's free, online Radon Measurement Professional Initial Training Course  is AARST-NRPP-approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. To complete all components of the NRPP Radon Certification, please visit their site for more information.  
 
NRSB:
InterNACHI's free, online Radon Measurement Professional Initial Training Course is NRSB-approved for initial certification. For those looking for NRSB continuing education, members should take the free, online "Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provider" course.

To be a certified manufactured and mobile home inspector, individuals can take InterNACHI's online "How to Inspect Manufactured & Mobile Homes Course" is free to members.

Become a Certified Home Energy Inspector. The online training and certification is free for members. No infrared, no blower door, and no additional training needed.
 
 
 
 

Wood Destroying Organisms (online and free)


 
The Kansas Department of Agriculture requires that pest inspections be conducted by a certified and licensed professional pursuant Kansas statute 50-6,113:

Pest inspections relating to real estate transactions; certification required; deceptive act.
(a) Any person performing inspections for evidence of wood destroying insects, at the request of a buyer, seller, real estate broker, real estate salesperson, relocation company or financial institution, in connection with a real estate transaction or a loan secured by an interest in real estate shall hold, at the time of inspection, a valid certification, issued pursuant to the Kansas pesticide law, which authorizes the person to use or supervise the use of restricted use pesticides in the control of wood destroying insects.

InterNACHI members can become certified by taking the Wood Destroying Organisms Inspection Course. This course may be a useful education tool for those looking to become licensed as a commercial or non-commercial pesticide applicator.
