How to Become a Certified Home Inspector in Nevada

 

Home Inspector Licensing: 

To Become a Certified Home Inspector in Nevada, You Must:

  1. Complete the required Division-approved pre-licensing education, consisting of at least 40 hours for a Residential Inspector, 50 hours for a General Inspector, or 60 hours for a Master Inspector. You can find InterNACHI’s approved partner schools here: https://www.nachi.org/vendor-offers
  2. Complete field experience by observing a minimum of 25 home inspections performed by a certified General or Master Inspector or approved instructor and submit a completed inspection log. Find an InterNACHI® Mentor near you.
  3. Pass the Inspector of Structures examination approved by the Nevada Real Estate Division, with a passing score dated within the required timeframe.
  4. Maintain Errors & Omissions insurance with minimum coverage of $100,000 and General Liability insurance with minimum coverage of $100,000, listing the inspector’s name on the policy. InterNACHI members do receive a discount on insurance, and you can get a quote at nachi.org/insurance
  5. Submit a completed Application for Certificate and all required documentation to the Nevada Real Estate Division, including fingerprints and background materials as required.
  6. Pay all required application and certification fees established by the Division.

Wood-Destroying Organism Course (online & free for members):

The Nevada Department of Agriculture approves InterNACHI's free, online "Wood-Destroying Organism Inspection Course" for Continuing Education credits for licensed pesticide applicators.  View the approval of the course from Nevada's Department of Agriculture. 
 
 
 
 


Radon Measurement Certification and CE (online & free for members):

Though Nevada does not regulate or enforce individuals performing radon testing, measurement, and mitigation the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services recommends that radon measurement service providers be listed as certified by nationally recognized certification organizations. For details, visit the Nevada Radon Program managed by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. 
 
NRPP:
InterNACHI's free, online "Radon Measurement Professional Initial Training Course" is AARST-NRPP approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. To complete all components of the NRPP Radon Certification, please visit their site for more information.  
 
NRSB:
For those looking for NRSB continuing education, members should take the free, online "Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provider" course.
