Home Inspector Pre-Licensing (online & free for members)

The North Carolina Home Inspector Licensing Board has approved InterNACHI's:
We currently do not have any field training scheduled; therefore, we recommend:
  1. completing the 120-hour ONLINE pre-licensing course (free & online for members); 
  2. contacting a local training provider and completing the 80 hours of required FIELD training; and then
  3. combining the 80-hour field training with our 120-hour online course to fulfill North Carolina's entire 200-hour pre-licensing training requirement.

How to Join InterNACHI


Radon Tester Certification in North Carolina (online & free for members)

Although the State of North Carolina does not require that radon testers or mitigators hold any certifications, the North Carolina Radon Program strongly recommends that homeowners hire a trained professional. Become a Certified Radon Tester by taking InterNACHI's free, online Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provide Course, which is AARST-NRPP approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. The course details are online at

Real Estate Agent Cards (free for members)

Licensed real estate professionals can attain free Continuing Education. InterNACHI is a state-approved course provider for real estate agents. For details, visit
Order your free real estate marketing cards to pass out to real estate agents. The cards help direct the agents to the free, online course. When an agent enters the InterNACHI member's ID number into the course system, the members is notified by email. 

Home Energy Inspector Certification (online & free for members)

Become a Certified Home Energy Inspector. The online training and certification are free for members. No infrared, no blower door, and no additional training is needed.

Home Energy Score Assessor (online & free for members)

The Home Energy Score is similar to a vehicle's miles-per-gallon rating, and any qualified inspector in the U.S. can generate a Home Energy Score in less than an hour. 
The Home Energy Score provides:
  • a score on a scale of 1 to 10;
  • facts about the home and its energy use; and 
  • recommendations generated by the U.S. Department of Energy to improve the score and energy efficiency. 
      To become a Home Energy Score Assessor, you must:
    1. be an InterNACHI-Certified Home Energy Inspector (online & free for members); 
    2. complete the 3D-house training (online & free for members);
    3. agree to participate in a Quality Assurance Plan with other local Home Energy Inspector(free for members); and
    4. email Michelle to participate in the program.

    Roof Data Technician Program (free for members to participate in)

    The Roof Data Technician Program, developed by InterNACHI and Owens Corning and Lowe's, provides an additional revenue stream for InterNACHI members who are hired by Owens Corning as part of a roof warranty claim resolution process. (This program is operational in the United States only.) Participate in the InterNACHI/Owens Corning Roof Data Technician Program.
