Home Inspector Pre-Licensing

To become a home inspector in North Carolina an individual must complete 120 hours of pre-licensing curriculum AND 80 hours of in-person field training.

Inspector Continuing Education (online & free for members)

The North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board has approved InterNACHI as a Course Sponsor of free, online courses for home inspectors. InterNACHI pays the $5/credit hour fee to upload the course completions for you to the state of NC, keeping these courses completely free for InterNACHI members. 
 
               
 
 

 
 
 

 

 

 

 
The following are free, online Continuing Education courses approved by the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board (please note that you cannot take the same course within a three-year period to renew your license):
 
Notice: According to NC state regulations students cannot obtain CE between September 10th and October 1st. Courses must be taken outside of that timeframe in order to obtain state credit. 
 
 
 
 

Radon Tester Certification in NC (online & free for members)

       
 
Although the State of North Carolina does not require that radon testers or mitigators hold any certifications, the North Carolina Radon Program strongly recommends that homeowners hire a trained professional. Become a Certified Radon Tester by taking InterNACHI's free, online Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provide Course, which is AARST-NRPP approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. Real Estate Agent Cards (free for members)

Order your free real estate marketing cards to pass out to real estate agents. The cards help direct the agents to the free, online course. When an agent enters the InterNACHI member's ID number into the course system, the members is notified by email. 
 
 
 

Home Energy Inspector (online & free for members)

 
Become a Certified Home Energy Inspector. The online training and certification are free for members. No infrared, no blower door, and no additional training is needed.
 
 
 

Home Energy Score Assessor 

The Home Energy Score is similar to a vehicle's miles-per-gallon rating, and any qualified inspector in the U.S. can generate a Home Energy Score in less than an hour. 
 
The Home Energy Score provides:
  • a score on a scale of 1 to 10;
  • facts about the home and its energy use; and 
  • recommendations generated by the U.S. Department of Energy to improve the score and energy efficiency. 
  To become a Home Energy Score Assessor, you must:
  1. be an InterNACHI-Certified Home Energy Inspector (online & free for members); 
  2. complete the 3D-house training (online & free for members);
  3. agree to participate in a Quality Assurance Plan with other local Home Energy Inspector; and
  4. email Michelle to participate in the program.

    Roof Data Technician Program (free for members)

      
     
    The Roof Data Technician Program, developed by InterNACHI and Owens Corning and Lowe's, provides an additional revenue stream for InterNACHI members who are hired by Owens Corning as part of a roof warranty claim resolution process. (This program is operational in the United States only.) Participate in the InterNACHI/Owens Corning Roof Data Technician Program.
