Home Inspector Licensing (online & free for members):

To become a home inspector in South Carolina, you must complete a state application prepared by the Commission, which requires a membership to an organization approved by the S.C. Residential Builders Commission. InterNACHI is an approved organization that provides certification as well as member benefits.  And it's all free for InterNACHI members. The cost of becoming a certified home inspector is your membership fee to InterNACHI. Join InterNACHI as a member, and become certified at no additional cost. 
 
The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Commission lists InterNACHI as an approved organization for home inspector license with examination. Complete the following steps to get certified for South Carolina: 
  1. Join InterNACHI.
  2. Complete InterNACHI's home inspector certification requirements. This includes the twelve online courses required in the first year.  
  3. Take the state exam. You must contact the state to schedule the exam.

Insurance for Inspectors

Although South Carolina doesn’t have requirements regarding insurance for home inspectors, many local real estate boards and home inspector business franchises require their affiliate members to meet certain coverage standards. Radon Tester Certification in South Carolina (online & free)

      
The South Carolina Department of Health requires an individual to complete a radon measurement certification course approved by either the NRPP or the NRSBVisit the South Carolina website for details
 
NRPP:
InterNACHI's free, online "Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provide Course" is AARST-NRPP approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. To complete all components of the NRPP Radon Certification, please visit their site for more information.

Real Estate Cards (free for members):

The cards provide simple instructions for agents to take free, online Continuing Education courses to help renew their license. 
 
Licensed real estate agents can attain free, online Continuing Education by taking InterNACHI's courses for agents. When an agent enters the InterNACHI member's ID #, the member is automatically notified by email, and the first slide of the course contains the member's contact information.

Wood-Destroying Organism Course (online & free)


 South Carolina currently does not regulate pest control inspectors, however they do require that pest control applicators to be licensed and certified by the state. For more information look here. Roof Data Technician (free for members)

  
The Roof Data Technician Program, developed by InterNACHI and Owens Corning and Lowe's, provides an additional revenue stream for InterNACHI members who are hired by Owens Corning as part of a roof warranty claim resolution process. (This program is operational in the United States only.) Participate in the InterNACHI/Owens Corning Roof Data Technician Program.
