Insurance for Inspectors​

Although Michigan doesn’t have requirements regarding insurance for home inspectors, many local real estate boards and home inspector business franchises require their affiliate members to meet certain coverage standards. Home Inspector Continuing Education (online & free for members)

To maintain your home inspector certification, you must complete 24 hours of Continuing Education every year. InterNACHI's courses are free and online for members.

Real Estate Cards (free for members)

Michigan-licensed real estate agents can attain free, online Continuing 
Education to keep their licenses current by taking InterNACHI's free courses for real estate agents. InterNACHI has free informational cards that members can hand out to real estate agents that explain how to log into the free courses. 
 
When a real estate agent logs into the course and enters the InterNACHI member's ID number, the member will be automatically notified by email.
 
 
 

Radon Tester Certification (online & free for members)

       

Radon testers are not licensed or regulated in Michigan. However, the State of Michigan recommends that testers become certified by taking certification courses approved by NRPP and AARST. For details, visit Michigan's website. InterNACHI's free, online radon course is approved by NRPP and AARST for both Entry Level (INACH-1) and Continuing Education (INACH-401). Home Energy Inspector Certification (online & free for members)

 

Become a Certified Home Energy Inspector. The online training and certification are free for members. No infrared, no blower door, and no additional training is needed.
 

Home Energy Score Assessor (online & free for members)

The Home Energy Score is similar to a vehicle's miles-per-gallon rating, and any qualified inspector in the U.S. can generate a Home Energy Score in less than an hour. 
 
The Home Energy Score provides:
  • a score on a scale of 1 to 10;
  • facts about the home and its energy use; and 
  • recommendations generated by the U.S. Department of Energy to improve the score and energy efficiency. 
  1.   To become a Home Energy Score Assessor, you must:
    1. be an InterNACHI-Certified Home Energy Inspector (online & free for members); 
    2. complete the 3D-house training (online & free for members);
    3. agree to participate in a Quality Assurance Plan with other local Home Energy Inspector(free for members); and
    4. email Michelle to participate in the program.
       

Become a Home Energy Score Assessor.

 

Roof Data Technician (free for members to participate in)

  

The Roof Data Technician Program, developed by InterNACHI and Owens Corning and Lowe's, provides an additional revenue stream for InterNACHI members who are hired by Owens Corning as part of a roof warranty claim resolution process.   • free to members;
