How to Become a Licensed Home Inspector in Oklahoma
InterNACHI’s Oklahoma Home Inspector Pre-Licensing Program
Welcome to the Oklahoma Home Inspector Licensing Program. Oklahoma requires individuals who perform home inspections for compensation to be licensed by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB). Before beginning the licensing process, applicants should review the state’s education, examination, experience, insurance, and application requirements.

To Become a Licensed Home Inspector in Oklahoma, You Must:
- Be 18 years old or older.
- Complete at least 90 hours of approved home inspector education through a state-approved provider. InterNACHI® is a state-approved education provider.
- Pass the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE) or another examination approved by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board. To help practice or prepare for the exam, you may take InterNACHI's Online Home Inspector Exam (free and open to everyone), take the InterNACHI® Ultimate Home Inspection Practice Test (free and online for members), and take InterNACHI's accredited online courses (free and online for members).
- Provide proof of general liability insurance in the minimum amount required by the Board. InterNACHI members do receive a discount on insurance, and you can get a quote at nachi.org/insurance.
- Submit a completed application, including all required documentation and fees, to the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.

Once you've completed the program in full, you will be able to download your certificate of completion.
After You’re Licensed — Keep It Active
Oklahoma home inspector licenses must be renewed annually. No home inspection license shall be renewed unless the licensee has completed at least 8 hours of continuing education every year. Of those hours, no more than 2 hours may be in Ancillary Systems topics, including plumbing systems, water supply systems, swimming pools, energy systems, and similar components. When renewing your home inspector license, you must also maintain current liability insurance and provide proof of insurance to the Board. InterNACHI provides state-approved CE.
You must retain proof of CE completion for your renewal cycle. InterNACHI® Certificates of Completion are available via the InterNACHI® dashboard FOREVER.
