Welcome to InterNACHI's Florida Home Inspector Pre-Licensing Program. Florida requires individuals who perform home inspections for compensation to be licensed by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Before beginning any pre-licensing education or submitting a license application, you should review the Department’s licensing requirements, approved courses, examination options, and application procedures.

To Become a Licensed Home Inspector in Florida, You Must:
- Complete 120 hours of DBPR-approved home inspector pre-licensing education covering the required components of a home. InterNACHI® is a state-approved organization.
- Pass one of the written examinations approved by the Department. Take InterNachi’s Florida Home Inspector License Exam.
- Submit to a criminal background check and fingerprinting through an FDLE-approved Livescan service provider.
- Provide proof of commercial general liability insurance with a minimum coverage amount of $300,000. InterNACHI members do receive a discount on insurance, and you can get a quote at nachi.org/insurance.
- Submit a completed license application and pay the required application fee to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
- Demonstrate good moral character and compliance with Florida Statutes as required by the Department.

To proceed, decide which option you'd like to use to fulfill the 120-hour program. You may complete the courses below in any order.
Once you've completed the program in full, you will be able to download your certificate of completion.
Option #1: 120-Hour DBPR-Approved Program
Option 1 is fully online and self-paced. All courses are included free with your InterNACHI membership. This is the cheaper of the two options.
Option #2: 120-Hour DBPR-Approved Hybrid Program
Option 2 is a hybrid program made up of online and in-person training. It requires 40 hours of hands-on training, such as the House of Horrors 5-Day Training, in addition to the online training. The hands-on training may incur additional costs beyond your InterNACHI Membership.
After You’re Licensed — Keep It Active
Florida home inspector licenses must be renewed every even year, no later than July 31st. According to the DBPR Rule, Florida-licensed home inspectors are required to complete at least 14 hours of continuing education credits prior to the expiration of their license. Twelve (12) hours must be based on the components of a home ("General"), and two (2) hours must be based on hurricane wind mitigation ("Hurricane"). InterNACHI provides state-approved CE.
InterNACHI recommends the DBPR-approved 2026 Wind Mitigation and the 1802 Wind Mitigation Form, approved by DBPR for 16 hours (14 of "General" and 2 hours "Hurricane") to fulfill those state CE requirements. You are permitted to retake this course even if you have taken it for renewal in the past.
Continuing education must be completed within the renewal period and reported to the Department in accordance with DBPR renewal requirements.
You must retain proof of CE completion for your renewal cycle. InterNACHI® Certificates of Completion are available via the InterNACHI® dashboard FOREVER.
