How to Become a State-Registered Home Inspector in Arkansas
InterNACHI’s Arkansas Home Inspector Pre-Registration Program
Welcome to InterNACHI’s Arkansas Home Inspector Registration Board (AHIRB) approved 80-hour pre-registration education program. Before beginning the program, you should familiarize yourself with the Board’s website and the registration application process.

To Become State-Registered in Arkansas, You Must:
- Complete a 80 online or in-person Board-approved pre-registration education program. InterNACHI® is a state-approved education provider.
- The 80 hours include at least 64 hours of education instruction; and
- And at least 16 hours of field training. Search "Arkansas" at https://www.nachi.org/vendor-offers for field trainers.
- Review the Arkansas laws regulating the practice of home inspection. Take the Arkansas Home Inspector Registration Act course.
- Review the Arkansas Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Pass two required examinations:
- ASHI’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics examination; and
- The National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE). To help practice or prepare for the exam, you may take InterNACHI's Online Home Inspector Exam (free and open to everyone), take the InterNACHI® Ultimate Home Inspection Practice Test (free and online for members), and take InterNACHI's accredited online courses (free and online for members).
- Obtain professional liability insurance with a minimum coverage amount of $100,000. InterNACHI members do receive a discount on insurance, and you can get a quote at nachi.org/insurance.
- Submit a completed application and all required documentation to the Board through its e-licensing system.

You may complete the courses below in any order. To complete the 16 hours of required field training, contact one of our training partners, search "Arkansas". Upon completion of your field training, have your trainer email your completion certificate to [email protected] so it can be added to your account.
Once you've completed the program in full, you will be able to download your certificate of completion.
After you’re licensed — keep it active
Arkansas home inspector registration renewals require 14 hours of continuing education annually. Additionally, of those 14 hours, 8 must be approved as mandatory courses. Mandatory courses are defined as,
- Identifying and inspecting the following components and systems:
- Exteriors;
- Interiors;
- Roofing;
- Plumbing;
- Electrical;
- HVAC;
- Structural;
- Miscellaneous appliances; and
- Solid fuel burning appliances; and
- Applicable laws and standards of practice.
Continuing education courses must be a minimum of 2 hours in length. InterNACHI provides state-approved mandatory and elective CE.
You must retain proof of CE completion for your renewal cycle. InterNACHI® Certificates of Completion are available via the InterNACHI® dashboard FOREVER.
