How to Become a Registered Home Inspector in Nebraska

Welcome to the Nebraska Home Inspector Registration page. Nebraska does not issue a traditional state home inspector license with education or exam requirements. However, beginning January 1, 2023, individuals who perform home inspections for compensation must register with the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office before conducting inspections.

To Become a Registered Home Inspector in Nebraska, You Must:

1. Register with the Nebraska Secretary of State Licensing Division before performing home inspections, submitting a complete registration application and required fees. 
2. Provide proof of general liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $250,000.  InterNACHI members do receive a discount on insurance, and you can get a quote at nachi.org/insurance.
3. Pay the required $300 filing fee when submitting your registration packet. 
4. Include any national home inspection certification you hold as part of your registration application, such as the InterNACHI® Home Inspector Certificate Program, as Nebraska’s statutes allow this to be listed on the application. 
5. Complete registration before conducting home inspections in Nebraska.
